Seneca Junction Chorus "Barbershopper Of The Year Award" Goes To.....
Skip Berenguer
At our recent Chorus Christmas party, Bob Spencer, immediate past "Barbershopper Of The Year" stood before us all and introduced the newest member of the Seneca Junction Chorus "B.O.T.Y".
It goes without saying that Bob is a man that epitomizes the very meaning of the award, giving selfless hours to Seneca Junction Chorus through his wonderful singing and craftmanship. We are all blessed by the wonderful "craftmanship and creativity" Bob has brought to SJC through his many pieces of artwork incorporated into the sets of our shows. We all certainly thank Bob for his generous donation of time, dedication, and countless hours outside of rehearsal for making Seneca Junction one of the finest groups of men to be a part of. On behalf of all the singing brothers in Seneca Junction, our hats are off to you Bob Spencer, for your dedication and time to Seneca Junction Chorus.
Without further ado, Bob introduced Skip Berenguer, Chorus Director, as the newest inductee into the famed "Barbershopper Of The Year Award" brotherhood. Skip has dedicated his life to the passion of "S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A." or "Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America". I think we can all agree that Skip's passion for singing, and helping all that want to sing, goes beyond anyone's passion for the craft he loves. Skip once told me that he used to go to practices with his Dad and listen to wonderful 4 part harmony as a little boy. Those wonderful "singing memories" fueled the fire and passion Skip brings to Seneca Junction Chorus each and every time we meet. His enthusiasm, keen sense of pitch, and colorful voice fill the rehearsal hall and projects how we, as brothers in singing, should want to emulate this man we now applaud as "Barbershopper Of The Year".
Thanks Skip for your countless hours of music, in front of and behind the scenes, as you have dedicated your life to one of true vocal harmony. We look forward to following your lead as you build us into the finest singing machine the District has seen and to our first District Championship.
On behalf of all the singing brothers of Seneca Junction Chorus and beyond, congratulations on this truly remarkable award bestowed to not only a fine man, but a good friend to all of us. Now, "Let's Sing".
